April 30, 2020 Suzanne Seldes

西瓜视频 mourns the passing of entrepreneur, community volunteer and philanthropist Alma Lee Loy. An avid supporter of the College, Loy represented Indian River County on the 西瓜视频 Foundation Board of Trustees for more than a dozen years.

Alma Lee Loy

Loy joined the Foundation Board of Directors on February 11, 2008. She served as the Vice Chair from 2012 to 2014. Her love was Take Stock in Children, a comprehensive program that helps at-risk, low-income children succeed by providing college scholarships, volunteer mentors, student advocates/case managers, early intervention, and long-term support.

A sport lover and a fund raiser, Loy was always active at the Foundation鈥檚 annual golf tournament, which supports 西瓜视频 scholarships. She took pride in all of the College鈥檚 advancements and achievements, and represented the Foundation Board of Directors at major event and recognitions such as the 2019 Aspen Prize celebration.

鈥淎lma Lee Loy lived her life with an abundance of passion,鈥 shares 西瓜视频 President, Dr. Ed Massey. 鈥淥ur College was most fortunate to benefit from her great wisdom, generosity, and relentless desire to give back. Alma Lee leaves a legacy of thoughtful and dedicated community leadership, and she will forever remain a model for all Foundation Board directors. She will be sincerely missed.鈥

On April 20, the 西瓜视频 Foundation Board of Directors unanimously selected Alma Lee Loy to be honored with the Emerita status.

This isn鈥檛 the first time, Loy was recognized as an exemplar by 西瓜视频. In 2010, the College鈥檚 Dan K. Richardson Entrepreneurship Program named Loy its Entrepreneur of the Year, an honor reserved for business founders or leaders who exemplify exceptional commitment to the free enterprise system who have made a positive impact in both their personal and professional lives.

西瓜视频 is grateful for Alma Lee Loy鈥檚 devotion to the College and for her countless contributions to the Treasure Coast region.
